Everyone has something in life that they wish they could do over. What isf that thing you really wanted to change was your entire life? Diz Harrison (DJ Qualls) is a nobody in high school, and that's the way it has always been. Half the people at Rocky Point High don't even known he exists, and the ones who do just don't care. But it's senior year and that's all going to change. But it isn't going to happen by itself. Sometimes life has a way of hurling you into situations you crave. After pulling a couple pranks and antics, Diz gets expelled from Rocky Point and sent to jail to serve a short term, where he befriends Luther (Eddie Griffin) -- Mr. Cool himself. By the time Diz gets out of jail, he has reinvented himself as Gil Harrison, a smooth operating, tough guy. He tries out his new persona at a high school across town, and it works so well that he ends up stealing the head cheerleader, Danielle (Eliza Dushku) from the toughest guy on campus. Life is good...for now. From then on Diz takes fate into his own hands and turns his life right-side up. But when you learn to roll the dice, you also must recognize that now you are outside of your element and must learn everything all over again. The New Guy features many familiar faces in it, including DJ Qualls, who plays Diz/Gil, and was last seen in Road Trip as Kyle, the corrupted virgin. Eliza Dushku, who stars as Danielle, is back in her cheerleading outfit after costarring as Missy, the outcast gymnast turned cheerleading champ in Bring It On. And finally there is Eddie Griffin, well known for his roles in Armageddon and The Mod Squad, as well as on his every on sitcom, Malcolm and Eddie. |
