Eliza Dushku has landed the female lead opposite D.J. Qualls in Revolution Studios' "The New Guy." The project is slated to begin shooting in mid-October with first-time director Ed Decter at the helm.

The actress, who is featured as Faith on the WB Network series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," also is in negotiations to star in Francis Ford Coppola`s American Zoetrope production "Taking on the Neighborhood," a drama that has award-winning short filmmaker Amy Talkington ("Bust," "Second Skin") attached to direct.

"Guy," written by David Kendall, is about an uncool high school senior (Qualls) who winds up in prison. When he gets out, he applies the rules he has learned behind bars to reinvent himself and start over at the town`s other high school. The plan goes perfectly until his nemesis uncovers his real identity. Dushku plays a cheerleader at the new school who befriends Qualls` character. Bedlam Pictures` Gordon Gray and Mark Ciardi are producing "Guy," with Decter and John Strauss executive producing.

"Neighborhood," written by Helen Schulman, is about a young New York woman (which Dushku would play) who finds herself trapped between the cultures of the Irish and Latino communities and inadvertently starts a deadly gang conflict.
